The table above shows the Max Berths for which each boat is coded for charter. This is the crew number to which the boat's safety equipment is geared, and is therefore the maximum legal size for the charter party, including a skipper if you hire one. Some of the boats have more berths than they're coded for - for example Disk Drive has up to 11 berths – which allows more flexibility in the allocation of sleeping arrangements, within her maximum coded capacity of 8. The number of Suggested Overnight berths in the table is what we consider as being reasonably comfort on-board. For example on Avocet it's perfectly comfortable to sleep 8 using her three large double cabins and the two full-sized single berths in her saloon – and she's fully coded and equipped to accommodate those 8 people if that's what you'd prefer; however over a cruise lasting a week, we reckon that a party of 6 might come to appreciate the extra elbow room allowed by their only using 6 of those 8 berths.
Standard Hand-Over Days for weekly charters are shown on the Details Page for each yacht. Alternative days may be possible for a Short-Period Charter or for when you'd like to book two boats together, say for a cruise in company. We will try to be flexible in meeting our customers requirements, however, the sooner you book, the greater the scope for flexibility!
A weekly charter will nominally start at 15.00 hours on the Hand-Over Day (whether Friday or Saturday) and finish at 10.00 hours the following Hand-Over Day. Yachts should be back in their berth at Largs Yacht Haven on the previous evening; and refuelled, cleaned and disembarked no later than 10.00 hours on the changeover day. Variations to these times may be possible by arrangement and we will always try our best to meet clients' preferences.
Discounts. We will offer the following discounts off our standard charter rates – please note that these discounts only apply to charters of one week or more:

Weekend, Long-Weekend and other Short-Period Charters are available on most of our yachts. However, on specified yachts these are only available at short notice, particularly during the High Season. Please contact us to check availability. Where we can, we will try to arrange short and weekend charter start and finish times to help our clients to get the most out of their leisure time. For example: a Friday to Monday charter – where available - would typically run from 18.00 hours on the Friday until 16.00 hours on the Monday. For a 3-Day Charter the price is 50% of the Standard Charter Rate. For a 2-Day Charter the price is 40% of the Standard Charter Rate. Please contact us to discuss any other requirements.
A booking deposit of 20% of the Total Charter Price is required to confirm your booking. On receipt of that deposit we will reserve the yacht in your name for the agreed charter period. The 80% balance of the Total Charter Price must be received by us no later than 3 weeks before the agreed start date of the charter. The agreement/contract is between the customer and the end-provider - ScotSail acts as a third-party referral agent only, and accepts no liability whatsoever for any matters relating to the agreement between the parties, or the service provision concerned. All information, dates, prices, images and other details are representative only and the final binding details will be agreed between the parties at the time of booking. No monies will be paid to ScotSail by the customer.
A minimum Refundable Security Deposit of £1000GBP Per Yacht must also be received by us prior to boarding. The Refundable Security Deposit is held securely by the Company, and is intended to reduce or extinguish the liability to the Company in the event of any loss or damage suffered as a result of your charter, e.g. Insurance Excess, Loss or Damage (howsoever caused) or Consumables such as fuel or oils etc. The amount of this security deposit shall be increased by: a) £650.00 - where the yacht should during the charter period either transit any canal, or sail South or West of the Mull of Kintyre;
c) £1000.00 - where any racing or competitive activities are carried out, including 'time-trials' or any other activity intended to test or measure the performance of the yacht and/or her crew. Note. Any or all of activities above must not be carried out without the express written consent of the Company prior to the period of the charter.

*Subject to availability - always check with the Company prior to arriving for check-in. Payment in advance is required. Loss or damage, howsoever caused, will be charged at replacement cost + £40.00 administration fee.
Cleaning We expect you to return the yacht to us in as clean and tidy a condition as you found it at the start of your charter. If you prefer not to clean it at the end of your charter, please inform us of this before you depart. There is normally the option to pay for a Yacht Cleaning Service at the end of your Yacht Charter. The cost of this is £50.00. This can be paid in advance, on return or be deducted from your Refundable Security Deposit. Refuelling We expect you to return the yacht to us with the same amount of fuel as when you took possession of the yacht - this will normally be a full tank. This also applies to fuels and oils for tenders, out-board engines and spare-fuel supplies on-board. There are marine refuelling facilities at Largs Yacht Haven and a marine chandlery on-site also. If you prefer not to refuel at the end of your charter, please inform us of this either before you depart, or as soon as is practical prior to your return. There is normally the option to pay for a Yacht Refuelling Service at the end of your Yacht Charter. The cost of this is £40.00. This can be paid in advance, on return or be deducted from your Refundable Security Deposit. Note. The Yacht Refuelling Service Charge will not be applied where exceptional circumstances or weather conditions may hamper or prevent you from refuelling safely. Do not attempt to carry out any manoeuvres or re-fuelling operations under adverse or unsafe conditions.
