A comprehensive introduction to cruising for inexeperienced skippers. Applicable for both Power and Sail, this course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate waters by day. Basic Lights and Night-Nav is also included in the course, to introduce you to night cruising. This course is essential for those needing the skills and knowledge to be safe at sea, to navigate, interpret tides and deal with emergency situations effectively. This updated course now includes Electronic Navigation, and also FREE GPS Chartplotter Training Software for every student.

Our RYA Day Skipper Shorebased Theory Courses are essential for learning to make good command decisions on board, navigating, working out tides and dealing with emergencies. You don't need any prior experience and the course will prepare you for the RYA Day Skipper Practical Course. The 3-Weekends Shorebased Theory Course is a mix of chartwork, tides, safety, navigation, seamanship, skippering and command skills, flares and lifejackets, and loads more. Each day is spent 9am-5pm in-class. It is designed as an energising and good-fun experience, using both live and training equipment, computer simulators, videos, group exercises and more. 6 Nights' FREE Overnight Accommodation is included (subject to availability) with our 3-weekend courses. |

This course is also available in our StudyFlex™ format - the exact same course with all the learning materials, computer software and official course pack included. You get a dedicated and named Instructor available by telephone and e-mail from 9am-9pm / 7 days. You go through the course with your instructor step-by-step, at your own pace. Final multiple-choice and chartwork assessments are undertaken at our centre (this can be arranged to take place prior to Check-In / Boarding of a Practical Sailing Course. All our shorebased theory courses are inclusive of everything you require - even exam and certificate fees!
